B’nai Israel Jewish Center in Petaluma, incorporated by the State of California in 1871, is the oldest Jewish community between San Francisco and Portland, OR. As Petaluma’s inclusive Jewish community, BIJC welcomes all who wish to pursue connection to Jewish community, to the spiritual teachings of Jewish tradition, to Jewish cultural expressions and to Jewish educational experiences for adults, youth and children. Programs include Gan Israel Preschool, J School — the Community School for Jewish Learning (a joint program with Congregation Ner Shalom of Cotati), social and cultural activities, Shabbat and holiday services, sisterhood and Judaica shop. The center offers many opportunities for study, including traditional Torah study, adult B’nai Mitzvah preparation, Lunch ’n Learn, visiting scholars and more.
