Whether you want to cheer for Queen Esther or just stomp around in a paper mask, Purim is a blast for all ages. One of the best parties is “Purim Unmasked” at the JCC San Francisco, where there will be live music, belly dancing, puppet shows and make-your-own-hamantaschen (plus a whole lot more, and all for free). But that’s just one of the many gatherings in the Bay Area for what some call the “wild child of Jewish holidays.”

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25 at JCCSF, 3200 California St., S.F. Free.
