Great burger joint in Noe Valley, Hi Way is a new initiate to J.’s Readers’ Choice.  For burger lovers, there’s the perfect burger which is 100% grass-fed beef served on a traditional sesame bun, with “the works” (lettuce, tomato, grilled or raw onion, and secret sauce). And for the open-minded and adventurous, there is the newest addition to the menu: Hi-Fries! Fresh-cut fries topped with slow-smoked beef brisket, homemade cheese sauce. chives, tomatoes, and a side of spicy peppers. Bring it on!

Barney’s signature hamburgers are made with a secret blend of Angus chuck, 100% all-natural beef. They are a J. favorite because they’ve been doing it successfully for over 40 years. They take the classic burger and riff on it like a jazz sax player: North Beach with artichoke hearts, Maui Maui with teriyaki glaze, grilled pineapple, bacon, Greek feta, avocado, Gastropub with provolone, bacon, egg sunny side up. Need we say more? Any way you want it, they’ll make it happen. Plus all the side stuff you’d expect and lots of other foods.

Back on the radar of J. readers, Jeffreys’ hamburgers is different because of Serge, the owner. He freshly grinds Angus beef daily. All soups are made from scratch. Only the freshest of fruits and vegetables are used. Amazing milkshakes show up in those cool classic glass tumblers of years ago.  Jeffrey’s is absolutely a blast from the past, when food was slow and taste was what mattered most!
