Trained actors who have moved on to luminous careers include Annette Bening, Nicolas Cage and Danny Glover. Spawned from a vision and a storefront stage that launched in 1968, the nationally renowned arts organization is a crown jewel of Bay Area theater. The Rep launches new works, many of which have gone on to Broadway, and often puts its own spin on classic dramas and musicals. It is a Tony Award winner for outstanding regional theater and regularly fills to capacity shows on both of its two stages. Also hosts a recognized theater school.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley started in 1969 and presents plays in Palo Alto and Mountain View, serving some 100,000 patrons annually. This season’s eight-play repertoire is an exciting one, featuring drama, comedy and musicals. The theater also hosts a summer New Works Festival, plus camps for kids and workshops for adults and a recently launched Commissioning Program.
