Scarlett Johansson and her husband, Romain Dauriac, have opened a popcorn shop in Paris, and the Jewish actress was even on hand for the soft opening on Oct. 22.
Johansson scooped popcorn for the fans who crowded the store, Yummy Pop, which is located in the Marais district of Paris. An official grand opening will take place in the future.
“It has been a dream of mine and my family for several years to bring our favorite American snack to our favorite European city,” the 31-year-old movie star said in a statement. “My hope is for Yummy Pop to become a Parisian snacking staple and a symbol of friendship between my two most beloved cities, Paris and New York.”
Johansson previously served as a spokeswoman for SodaStream, the Israeli-owned home soda-making company. She was forced to resign as a global ambassador for Oxfam due to outcry over the company’s West Bank plant, that employed hundreds of Palestinians. Oxfam demanded that she withdraw her support from SodaStream, but she refused. The plant has since moved to the Negev desert in southern Israel.
As for popcorn, Johansson said her favorite gourmet flavor is truffle, parmesan and sage. — jta
