Five Bay Area organizations were highlighted in the 2016 edition of the Slingshot Guide, an annual publication that features 50 innovative organizations in American Jewish life. A sixth was featured in a supplement on organizations that serve women and girls.

The five in the main guide are the pro-Israel LGBTQ group A Wider Bridge, the Contemporary Jewish Museum, web video producers G-dcast, and two Berkeley nonprofits, Urban Adamah and Wilderness Torah.

The Oakland-based Shalom Bayit, an anti-domestic violence organization, was included in the “Women and Girls” supplement.

G-dcast and Wilderness Torah are both labeled as having been in the guide for five or more years. CJM is in Slingshot for the first time.

Moishe House, which funds group houses for young adult Jews who put on Jewish programming, was also included in Slingshot. Though it is not based in the Bay Area, there are several Moishe Houses in San Francisco, the East Bay and the Peninsula.
