Joseph J. Benard on Jan. 1, 2007 at the Palo Alto V.A. Hospital at age 94 with his family by his side.
He had a loving marriage of 64 years to the late Miriam Benard. Loving father to Gail Friedman Beck and Penny Benard; he was especially devoted to his grandchildren, Dr. Mark Friedman of Gig Harbor, WA and Rachelle Friedman of San Jose, CA; great grandfather to Alexis and Ethan Friedman; uncle to many nephews and nieces. Joseph was the last surviving family member of he and his wife’s generation. Born in St. Louis, MO his family moved to San Francisco where he grew up, graduated from Lowell H.S. and enjoyed a very productive life. He was a member of Fidelity Masonic Lodge #120 F.& A.M., active with SIRS and volunteered with Traveler’s Aid at S.F. Airport. Joseph and Miriam led very busy and full lives as business owners, sports fans, (die-hard 49er loyalists), fishing, swimming, playing golf and traveling as much as possible with friends and family. Mostly he loved spending time with his family who cherish his memory today and always. Private graveside services were held at Salem Memorial Park, Colma. The family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice.

Dan Eric Miller, of Mountain View CA, at rest in Belmont, CA on January 2, 2007. Born June 19, 1941 in New York City, New York. Retired Industrial Engineer at Hewlett Packard. Dan is survived by Margaret “Micki” Miller of Mountain View and his two sons Jeremy and his wife Amy and Joshua and his wife Rachel. Memorial services were held at Congregation Beth Am, 26790 Arastradero Road, Los Altos Hills. Interment at Alta Mesa Memorial Park.
Shanie (Jean) Sher in San Francisco on January 3, 2007 at age 84. Beloved mother of Malcolm (Kathy), Hylton (Jillian) and Melvyn (Charmaine) Sher; devoted grandmother of Justin, Lindsey, Daniel (Noa), Adam, Joseph and Joshua; and great grandmother of Ma’ayan and Alon; dear sister of Rosalyn Bass and Sam (Brenda) Yodaiken and the late Julius Yodaiken and Barbara Bernstein.

Allan I. Wendroff passed away in his sleep in Sacramento on December 25, 2006 at age 80.
Allan is survived by his daughters, Loren Wendroff of Iowa, and Sara Lily Ruth Wendroff of Colorado; his sister, Lois (Harvey) Kaplow; nieces Debra Kaplow, Wendy (Richard) Colvin; nephew David (Debi) Kaplow; great nieces Katie and Megan Colvin; aunt Rose Berman of Florida; first cousins Alan (Lyllian) Wendroff of SF, Helen Karpin of Florida, and Carole (Cam) Bruce of Hawaii.
Allan spent his entire professional career as an attorney for the State of California, General Services Department.
He was born in Brooklyn, NY. His family moved to SF in 1938 where he graduated from Washington High School in 1944. He served in the U. S. Army in WWII. He attended the University of California, Berkeley, and graduated from Hastings College of the Law, SF.
Allan was an active member of B’nai B’rith beginning with AZA and then as a member of the Sacramento B’nai B’rith lodge where he mentored BBYO members. He coached BBYO youth in basketball and tennis.
Funeral services were held at Home of Peace Cemetery.
