In Berkeley, April 14. Born in 1926 in Frankfurt-am-Oder, Germany. With her mother was one of the 937 refugees of S.S. St. Louis. Lived in Belgium. Moved to United States. Wife of Frank Roubicek, a Holocaust survivor. Sister of Rita Hubbard. Mother of Eva Schmidt and Lisa Eden. Lived in Berkeley. Taught languages in Richmond Unified School District. Participated in the 1999 commemoration of the St. Louis in Washington, D.C. Services were held at Home of Eternity Chapel, Oakland, under the direction to Colonial Chapel. Interment at Home of Eternity Cemetery, Oakland. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In San Francisco, April 12. Age 87. Husband of the late Theda Shifs. Father of Gordon and Frances Shifs. Grandfather of Rachael Kilshaw and Dominique Shifs. Great-grandfather of Connor "Oscar" Clausen. Brother of Philip (and Ruth) Shifs, Sonia Singer, Jeanette (and Ed) Levine, the late Jerome Shifs. Brother-in-law of Rita Shifs and the late Morrie Singer. A longtime San Francisco resident and business owner. A World War II Navy veteran who saw action in the South Pacific.
