Pro-Israel group posts new BART ads after complaints about old ones

The pro-Israel organization StandWithUs has had to redesign an ad campaign after BART received some complaints that the original poster demeaned Palestinians. The new posters will be put on display in six stations starting Monday, Feb. 7.

The top of the ads depicted a hooded Palestinian with the heading “Stop Palestinian Terrorism.” The new poster is text only, reading “Stop Palestinian Leadership From Teaching Hate & Violence.” The ad is part of a campaign called SayYesToPeace.org.

The posters, produced to counter a recent BART ad campaign calling for an end to American military aid to Israel, will run for four weeks. The StandWithUs posters will be displayed at the downtown Berkeley, 12th Street Oakland City Center, Civic Center/U.N. Plaza, Embarcadero, Balboa Park and MacArthur BART stations.
