President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are scheduled to meet in Washington on July 8.

The meeting comes more than a month after Netanyahu canceled a June 1 meeting following Israel’s deadly May 31 interception of a Turkish-flagged, Gaza-bound flotilla.

Next month’s meeting will be Netanyahu’s fifth with Obama at the White House. Meanwhile, Israel Defense Minister Ehud Barak was in Washington this week for a meeting with Secretary of Defense Robert Gates in which the flotilla interception featured prominently.

Other top agenda items the two were to discuss included Israel’s broader policy toward Gaza, the American-brokered indirect talks between Israelis and Palestinians, and Iran. — jta
