A nonprofit that puts out baseball cards of Jewish ballplayers has said that its newly released 2010 set will be its final set of cards for at least a decade.

The 50-card “Deck of the Decade” set from JewishMajorLeaguers.org includes a card for all 29 Jewish big-leaguers from 2000-2009, plus assorted highlight and statistical leader cards.

JewishMajorLeaguers.org issued its first set in 2003, titled “American Jews in America’s Game.” Subsequent sets focused on different themes and updates.

This year’s set, produced by Topps and retailing for $36, is referred to on the JML website as “our sixth and final set … With the 2010 edition, we have fulfilled a major chunk of our mission of documenting American Jews in America’s game; that’s it for us for card sets — at least until 2020.”

JewishMajorLeaguers.org now has released a card for each of 162 Jewish major leaguers from the 1870s through the 2009 season, plus many other specialty cards. — jta
