Film screenings show Congo conflict
Thursday, November 19, 2009 | byRuth Messinger, president of American Jewish World Service, will be in the Bay Area next week at three advanced screenings of “Reporter,” the new documentary featuring Nicholas Kristof, New York Times columnist, as he uncovers the stories of women and children affected by the decade-long conflict in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
On Nov. 30, Dec. 1 and Dec. 2, there will be a 5:30 p.m. reception and a 7 p.m. film screening followed by a Q & A with Messinger.
The screening Nov. 30 will be at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco, 3200 California St., S.F.; the Dec. 1 screening will be at Smith Rafael Film Center, 1118 Fourth St., San Rafael; and the Dec. 2 screening will be at Congregation Beth Am, 26790 Arastradero Road, Los Altos Hills.
