Chabon’s new adventure

Michael Chabon, author of the Pulitzer-winning “The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay” and “The Yiddish Policemen’s Union,” has a new book out Sept. 11 — “Telegraph Avenue.” Set in Berkeley and Oakland, the novel  tells the story of two record-shop owners and their spouses (both midwives) as their shop is threatened by the construction of a megastore. Exploring friendship, race and secrecy, the novel promises to be inducted quickly into the NorCal canon.
