One of Israel’s most prominent daily Hebrew newspapers, Yediot Achronot, which translates to “latest news,” will lay off dozens of journalists.

The layoffs will include senior staff members and veterans of the organization, according to the Israeli business publication Globes, and affect the paper’s health and travel sections. Ynetnews is the English-language website for Yediot Achronot.

Along with Ma’ariv and Ha’aretz, Yediot has been one of the country’s leading daily Hebrew newspapers for decades. The Israeli newspaper landscape changed in 2007 with the launch of Israel Hayom, a free daily financed by American casino mogul Sheldon Adelson. — jta
