Dr. Eric Shapira, the author of “A New Wrinkle: What I Learned from Older People Who Never Acted Their Age,” is scheduled to be the next speaker in the Books & Bagels series at the JCC of the East Bay.

Shapira’s 320-page book, published last September, aims to help people learn about themselves and the aging process through the life experiences of other people: how they think and feel in light of getting older.

The discussion at the Books & Bagels event will focus on the aging process and what it teaches us. It is designed not only for seniors, but also for members of the “Sandwich Generation,” people trying to figure out how to take care of their parents and concerned about their own aging down the line. Shapira teaches positive affirmation, acceptance and flexibility with respect to the aging process.

The event will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, May 23 at the JCC of the East Bay, 1414 Walnut St., Berkeley. It is free. For more information, call (510) 848-0237 or visit www.jcceastbay.org.
