The moves are designed “to better serve federation donors, stakeholders and community members,” says <strong>Richard Miles</strong>, the federation’s director of marketing.</p> <p><strong>Jamie Dubey</strong>, formerly with Yahoo’s management team, is the new chief of operations and innovations; <strong>David Katznelson</strong>, a former Warner Brothers executive who has consulted with the federation for the past year, is director of community engagement and outreach; <strong>Roberta Zucker Catalinotto</strong>, now serving as chief development officer, has been named chief philanthropic initiatives officer; and <strong>Maxine Epstein</strong>, longtime Marin region campaign director, is the annual campaign director in charge of a streamlined and strategically focused development department.</p> <p> </p> <h2>Memories of China</h2> <p>If you have mementos or memorabilia related to Jewish life in China from 1840 to 1949, <strong>Linda Frank</strong> of San Francisco would love to borrow them. Frank is chair of “The Jews of Modern China,” an exhibit of photos, documents and memorabilia that will run Feb. 24 to May 16 at the Presidio Officers’ Club Exhibit Hall.</p> <p>“The items would provide a sense of what life was like and add an extra dimension to the exhibit,” Frank explains. Contact the show’s sponsor, the American Jewish Committee, at (415) 777-3820 if you have items that you think could be included.</p> <p><strong>Barbara Rosenberg</strong> of San Francisco is honorary co-chair of the exhibit, along with Jay Xu, director of the Asian Art Museum. Committee chairs include <strong>Dick Berman</strong> of Alameda and <strong>John Sampson</strong> of San Francisco (facilities); <strong>Cynthia Kopec</strong> of Piedmont (marketing); <strong>Ruth Finkelstein</strong> of San Francisco (docents); and <strong>Helene Edelman</strong> and <strong>Sam Leftwich</strong> of San Francisco (opening event).</p> <p> </p> <h2>Sacramento news</h2> <p>At a community-wide Chanukah party last month, Sacramento’s Jewish community recognized leaders from three generations for their commitment and dedication. <strong>Lou Weintraub</strong>, the one-time executive director of the S.F.-based Jewish Community Federation, was honored for his current work as a volunteer for a number of organizations. <strong>Dr. Scott “Skip” Rosenbloom</strong>, president of the Jewish Federation of the Sacramento Region, and <strong>Brian Fischer</strong>, developer of NextDor, an online social network for Jews, were also honored.</p> <p> </p> <h2>Short shorts ...</h2> <p> </p> <p>Novato’s <strong>Michael Bedar </strong>has produced “Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days,” an independent documentary that describes how to reduce the effects of diabetes through “live, whole, organic, plant-based foods.” It will screen in Oakland on Feb. 7, and over the next few months in Novato, San Francisco and Half Moon Bay.
