To mark the Nov. 20 anniversary of the Nuremberg Trials, 220 clergy representing five Christian and four Jewish denominations signed a petition urging President Barack Obama to bring about the arrest of Sudanese leader Omar al-Bashir and bring him to a Nuremberg trial of his own.

The David S. Wyman Institute for Holocaust Studies in Washington, D.C., and Christ Church Cathedral in Cincinnati, Ohio, organized the petition drive.

Seventeen of the 220 clergy are from Northern California — and include Conservative, Reform and Renewal rabbis.

Local rabbis who signed the petition include:

Rabbi Josh Berkenwald of Congregation Sinai in San Jose, Rabbi Yitzchok Feldman of Congregation Emek Beracha in Palo Alto, Rabbi Marvin Goodman of the S.F.-based Jewish Community Federation, Rabbi Pamela Frydman Baugh of the Association of Rabbis for Jewish Renewal, Rabbi Shoshanah King-Tornberg of Congregation B’nai Israel in Sacramento, Rabbi Reuven Taff of Mosaic Law Congregation in Sacramento, Rabbi Nancy Wechsler-Azen of Congregation Beth Shalom in Carmichael, Rabbi Stephen Vale of Congregation HaMakom in Vacaville and Congregation Bet Haverim in Davis.
