Message: <br /><br /> If you are having trouble reading this email, you may view this article online at: http://www.jweekly.com/40215/full/40215/synagogues-in-on-huge-marin-coalition/ <br /><br /> <b>Synagogues in on huge Marin coalition</b> <br /> Thursday, October 15, 2009 | by <br /><br /><p>More than 1,000 residents of Marin are expected to convene Oct. 25 for the Founding Convention of the Marin Organizing Committee, a countywide coalition of religious institutions and nonprofits.</p> <p>Congregation Kol Shofar of Tiburon will co-chair the convention. Kol Shofar will be joined by Congregation Rodef Sholom, St. Anselm’s, St. Raphael’s, Fairfax Community Church and the Canal Welcome Center.</p> <p>Rabbi Lavey Derby of Kol Shofar said he expects the event and the organization to send a powerful message to Marin County elected officials that its citizens are organized and committed to improving the community. Some of its target issues are transportation, poverty and health care.</p> <p>A handful of state, county and local elected officials are expected to be in attendance.</p> <p>The convention will run from 2 to 4 p.m. in the San Rafael High School gymnasium, 185 Mission Ave., San Rafael.
