It also marked my triumphant (minor and meek?) return to the temple, after so many years - so many in fact, that I do not wish to share the actual number in this forum.</p> <p>Let us instead focus on the simcha at hand - the beautiful wedding of my old friend Amittai Moshe Steindler to his beautiful bride Jules Rosenbloom Steindler. Even sitting here today, just one short week later, my eyes tear up at the memory.</p> <p>Perhaps I should briefly explain the history of my friendship with Tai. He came raging into my life early in college and we spent many a Saturday night sweatily dancing at 18+ clubs in Hollywood (Club Beat It!, anyone? Don't hate). We pre-partied and post-partied, we squished our way into the masses on dance platforms. Once we were pulled over for dancing, inside the car mind you, on the 405 freeway drive home. It has become somewhat of a minor legend in our group of friends. Who but Amittai would alert the police's suspicions by swerving the car in beat to the music?</p> <p>Flash forward several years and Amittai, while maintaining his boyish charm, has grown in the most wonderful ways. In Santa Cruz he met his beloved, Jules, a woman he clearly adores. His bashert. Together they've traveled to Israel and together their Jewish study has grown and flourished.</p> <p>The wedding took place last Monday evening at the Sephardic Temple Tifereth Israel on Wilshire. A mixture of traditional and Orthodox, the ceremony was beautiful yet somehow...informative. Especially to those of who needed a little reminder help with their Hebrew and so forth.</p> <p>I was afraid I'd feel strange — no longer hugging Amittai, dancing with just women — but I found I felt rather privileged. I felt privileged to spin, spin, spin amongst these strong Jewish females. And I felt privileged to share in the simcha of Amittai and Jules.</p> <p>Mazel tov!</p> <p> </p>
