A gift from Koret: Museums for free

Seventeen museums in the Bay Area that get support from the Koret Foundation will be offering free admission on Mother’s Day, May 10.

This will be the second time that Koret has hosted Koret Museum Days; the foundation did the same thing in 2004, in celebration of the foundation’s 25th anniversary. That event drew 55,000 people to 13 participating museums.

This year’s participating museums include the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco, the Judah L. Magnes Museum in Berkeley and the Chabot Space and Science Center in Oakland, as well as San Francisco’s Asian Art Museum, Museum of Modern Art, M.H. de Young Museum and the Exploratorium.

The Museum Days event is in celebration of Koret’s 30th anniversary. The foundation has contributed more than $52 million to arts, cultural and civic institutions throughout the Bay Area since 1979.
