A walk to raise funds to assist the victims of terrorism in Israel, and to express solidarity with the Jewish state, will begin at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, in Palo Alto and end at the “To Life! A Jewish Cultural Street Festival.”
“The second annual WalkFest is a community response to reach out to Israeli families that have been victimized by terrorism,” according to its chair, David Ron of San Carlos. “We want to make a statement that we, as a community, abhor the violence aimed at innocent civilians and we stand by Israel in its time of need.
All of the funds will be given to ATZUM Victims of Terror Project, to help provide support for victims and their families, and Magen David Adom, Israel’s emergency medical, disaster, ambulance, blood and healthcare network.
Walkers should meet at the CineArts Theater parking lot on the southwest corner of Page Mill Road and El Camino Real. The distance of the walk is approximately 3.5 miles (or an alternative shorter route of two miles).
Pledge sheets can be picked up at the following Peninsula and South Bay sponsoring organizations: Temple Beth Jacob, Temple Emanu-El San Jose, Hillel of Silicon Valley, Congregation Beth Am, Peninsula Temple Beth El, Peninsula Sinai Congregation, Congregation Emek Beracha, Congregation Etz Chayim, Congregation Kol Emeth, Kehillah Jewish High School, South Peninsula Hebrew Day School, Congregation Beth David or Temple Sholom, or by e-mailing David Ron at [email protected].
