‘Shabbat’ shalom

Concern for Helping Animals in Israel (CHAI) rescued this former cart-horse in Jaffa. It was starving and suffering from knee wounds. CHAI, based in the United States, bought the animal with donated funds, provided veterinary care and found it a permanent, happy home. He was named Shabbat for the day his new life began. CHAI officials report many cart-horses in Israel are beaten, starved, injured by ill-fitting shoes or harnesses and abandoned. Contributions can be sent to CHAI, P.O. Box 3341, Alexandria, VA 22302.
