Gov. Davis marks Israel independence

Gov. Gray Davis had proclaimed May 14 as Israel Independence Day in California to remind residents that on May 14, 1948, David Ben-Gurion declared the independence of the state of Israel.

The governor signed the proclamation on May 9.
