Announce a Milestone

  • Announcements of Milestones – weddings, births, engagements, and other simchas, or Jewish lifecycle events – are free, along with one photo.
  • Death announcements carry a per-word and per-photo charge. Please see below for instructions.

Photo Guidelines

  • Photos can be mailed or emailed.
  • Photos need to be clearly labeled and received no later than noon Monday.
  • Please choose a clear image.
  • A self-addressed, stamped envelope must be included if the photo is to be returned.
  • If the photo is sent electronically, it must be a JPEG image at 200 dpi minimum.
  • Submit photos by email to events@jweekly.com, or via U.S. mail.

INSTRUCTIONS & FEES

(1) Birth announcements are free up to 100 words
Most announcements include the full names (first and last) of the parents and their place of residence, the full name of the baby, gender, place of birth and names of siblings. You may also want to include the full names of the grandparents and/or great grandparents and their places of residence.

(2) B’nai Mitzvah announcements are free up to 100 words
In addition to the name of the celebrant, you may wish to include the names of parents, grandparents and other family members, the date of the bar or bat mitzvah and the synagogue name and city. Additional information is welcome.

(3) Engagement announcements are free up to 100 words
Most announcements include the full names of the engaged couple, their ages, their college degrees, their occupation and their place of residence (city and state). Many also include the full names of parents, siblings and grandparents as well as their place of residence. Also include the wedding date, if known. You may also consider sharing heartwarming or funny or unusual anecdotes about how and where the couple met and their courting experiences.

(4) Wedding announcements are free up to 100 words
Most announcements include the full names of the married couple, their ages, their college degrees, their occupation and their place of residence (city and state).  Many also include the full names of parents, siblings and grandparents as well as their place of residence, the location of the wedding (name of facility, city, state), who performed the ceremony (specify full name and affiliation of rabbi, cantor or judge), location of the reception, honeymoon and where the couple will live after the ceremony. You may also consider sharing heartwarming or funny or unusual anecdotes about how and where the couple met, courting experiences, the proposal or anything interesting or unusual that happened at the ceremony.

(5) Anniversary announcements are free up to 100 words
Most announcements include the full names of the couple, the city and state of residence, the number of years married, where and when the couple were married and a description of the type and location of the anniversary celebration. First and last names of children and grandchildren and their cities and state of residence are also often included. You may also consider sharing heartwarming or funny or unusual anecdotes about the couple’s married life.

(6) Death announcements are paid notices.
You may submit an announcement of any length.
