Concerts, book talks, movies and more are featured in this year’s Contra Costa Jewish Book and Arts Festival, which kicked off its fall-winter series this month. More than two dozen events are scheduled at various locations, including synagogues, the Reutlinger Community for Jewish Living and the Contra Costa JCC. The series runs through January.

Called “Under One Tent,” the festival is organized by a committee of community volunteers and presented by a coalition of synagogues and organizations in Contra Costa County.

The lineup includes presentations by local scholars, rabbis and authors; two talks by nationally known author Maggie Anton about her new book, “Enchantress”; Lehrhaus Judaica’s 40th anniversary celebration aboard a Hornblower yacht, and the concluding lecture by former University of California president Mark Yudof, who will address the topic “The Constitution on Campus,” exploring the interchange between the Constitution and academic freedom.
