Missing John!

John’s comment, “In a way, I did feel like I was able to attend my own funeral, and the eulogies have been wonderful…” is music to my ears. And I can hear him (in my head) saying that. Sounds just like him! I rarely missed a night with John Rothmann. Didn’t always agree with him, sometimes found him too conservative for my taste, but always found him intelligent, provocative, interesting and educational. His listeners to a one are incensed at the way this company treated him. No   announcement, no farewell, re-runs of his show without a heads up, adding insult to injury with a replacement show of such tastelessness. I hope he will be broadcasting somewhere else soon! If you’re reading this, John, know that there is no place we would rawther be than right there with you! grin

SHAME ON KGO!!!

How could they let go such a treasure and a gift to the airwaves as John Rothman?  We were so fortunate to live in an area where we could tune in to interesting & varied viewpoints and local hosts.  John was my all time favorite…a voice of reason and entertainment..Truly a gifted source of information. I was looking forward to hearing his comments during the upcoming presidential election period.
John knows about history, law, comedy, music. He was always enjoyable to listen to .
John will go on to do fine, I am sure.  However, the listeners will be poorer for this loss.  I am not Jewish but he spoke to all religions and beliefs with respect and intelligence.  Marvelous collections and memory.  Bah! Humbug, KGO!!
We miss you John!!

What is KGO thinking?

We can only hope that KGO will suffer in the ratings, try to bring back these brilliant hosts and find they have moved on to better things. Gil, Len, Gene, Joanie, the best. So sad.

Gornisht mit Gornisht

John Rothmann is a treasure.
You get what you pay for.
Kgo has replaced John Rothmann with Drec*k.

When I’d hear an important news story I always looked forward to listening to John’s view of it.
He was able to explain what it meant, or could mean, and asked the important questions.

I always learned something.

Sometimes listening to John was like sitting in a graduate school class.

He often astonished me, not only with his brilliance and depth of knowledge but by his courage and his ability to keep cool in the face of ignorance, rage and anti-Semitism.

Someone here said they were so fortunate to live in an area where they could tune in to interesting & varied viewpoints and local hosts.
I listened from Chicago and considered myself fortunate to live in a world where I could tune in to John Rothmann.

No more.

I miss him terribly and second the statement that was made above, “There’s no place I’d rather be than here with you.”

"shame on KGO" I second it

I sure miss all the fired hosts on KGO. I agree with the person who said “you get what you pay for”. To quote author/writer Joel Drucker “If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys” and that’s what KGO has now. John Rothman could take a subject that I consider boring, politics and make it very interesting. I read and very much enjoyed three books because of John. “Inside the White House Helicopter”, which led to “The Memoirs of Richard Nixon”, and “I gave them a sword” by David Frost. I also watched the Frost/Nixon movie because of John Rothman (who worked for Nixon). John, if you read this, I want you to know how much I enjoyed your show and will miss it. Also, the music you played was on topic and fantastic.

Taking away the only newstalk

Taking away the only newstalk station in order to directly compete against another all news station seems like bad business.

The fact that the light of a lone candle who shined in a stadium full of darkness, as John Rothmann has done for so many years has now been snuffed out leaves a huge void in desperately needed voices for Israel. His crisp comments and razor sharp instant recall brought balance and clarity to flashpoint issues. His termination is not only a great loss for Bay Area listeners, it is a wound to all of us who stand for and with Israel. Kol Hakavod John!

Big Fan Of Rothmann

I’m a fan of Rothmann. Have been for years, since he was doing late night weekend shows. I was glad when they moved him to weekdays. He does topics on movies, science fiction and history. I hope he finds a station or other outlet. I hear that Rothmann, Taliaferro, and Burns might wind up on the same station somewhere. But that’s a rumor. Maybe they could broadcast over the Internet. Start their own Internet station. We need to keep local talk shows.

I live in Oakland and when something major happened with crime or other issues. Rothmann talked about it and let the callers talk about it too. We need that kind of thing again!

Finally learned who shot JR

After waiting for years to listen to my talk show hero at a descent time of day, I was lucky enough to have a couple of years to get inside his head every night.  On finding out that he was not on as usual, I sent two emails to the station (with no response as to what had happened to him), I finally googled enough to find out the news.

I rarely agreed with him politically or religiously, but immensely enjoyed his ability to treat all callers fairly….even Michael from Cotati, probably the most articulate regular caller.

John has an amazing memory and based on his instant responses, he has to have read every one of his 15,000 political books.  I have no doubt that someone will recognize his talent and offer him a slot in the media with coverage large enough to share his talent with as many human beings as possible.

NOTE TO JR: THERE IS NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT THIS IS A BLESSING IN DISGUISE.  YOU WILL LIKELY BE OFFERED OPPORTUNITIES YOU NEVER DREAMED POSSIBLE.

Occupy KGO Rally Dec. 15

Since the mass execution at KGO the remaining staff is walking around in shock and sadness, longtime advertisers have pulled their ads, Ronn Owens has apparently survived for the time being, but seems to have alienated himself somewhat with his post execution comments. The Bay Area listening audience remains in disbelief over this.

For those who wish to show the owners of KGO how much they oppose what’s happened an “Occupy KGO” rally is scheduled for Dec. 15th at 11:30 outside their studio- 900 Front St. Please consider sending a strong message to the owners by attending.

To keep up on this and other inside info here’s a site-

Stupid KGO

I didn’t always agree with John Rothmann but I will miss him. Knowing what I do about the terrible treatment that the Israelis have meted out to the Palestinians I found it difficult to listen to his continuous praise of Israel. Nevertheless I found his voice on other issues to be in sync with mine.
KGO now has a dumbed-down formatt not worth listening to.
My radio dial is now turned to KQED or to Green960 which, unfortunately is due to become another dumbed down station featuring the likes of Glenn Beck.
The Bay Area deserves better..

WE MISS THE VOICE IN THE NIGHT

Dear John: We are so sad that we can’t hear you on KGO. My husband & I would lay in bed at night listening to your soothing voice. The Presidential history was so facinating. If we want to hear constant news, KCBS is there, BUT, we want to hear people calling in. After Ronn, we switch off. We think that you, Gene & Gil should all form your own talk radio station? How about it? We’ll keep looking for you somewhere in the future,
Have a Happy Hannukah & a great new year.
Sincerely, Brian & Joyce

I found John a total gasbag

I am of Pakistani origin and have never appreciated the defamatory manner in which Mr. Rothman pronounced my country. I fond him a hypocritical blow hard who despite his seemingly knowledge of the region never spent any time in the region on the ground so to speak. I thank KGO for firing this blow hard and only fault them for having them associated with their station for so long. There are several deli’s in my area looking for people of Mr. Rothman’s abilities. Yes I’ll take a turkey on rye Mr. Rothman and hold the mayo. From Paaaakkkkkiiiistaaahhhn

Pres .Andrew Johnson

Saw a wonderful old movie on TCM a week ago, Tennessee Johnson. The story of Andrew Johnson. I think you recommended a recent book on his life in the last year or two. What was the name of the book?

So many people miss you

Hello John,

I’m listening to you on 910 right now but can only get it on the Internet. I hope you get your own show soon and are on a station I can get on my radio.

I tried to email you but it came back because it was the KGO address. Cumulus should be ashamed and very sorry for firing the very best hosts. They will be sorry as they’re ratings have fallen already. I don’t listen to KGO any longer as thousands have done the same. It’s so frustrating not to be able to reach you. Please let us know where you will be permanently.

You are missed terribly and at this crucial time in politics.

Sincerely,

Sylvia

I miss John on KGO

If John Rothmann gets another radio show, please let me know.  I miss him so much.  The Cumulus new hires are disasters!  I no longer listen to KGO.  Paula
