Oh, how I love me some Neutral Milk Hotel. So when Jewcy premiered a video of Shawn Fogel’s new ukulele-filled cover of NMH’s song “King of Carrot Flowers" today, I literally gasped.

Neutral Milk Hotel was a seminal 1990s indie rock band that stole the hearts of many a young lover with impassioned tunes off their beautiful and haunting albums On Avery Island and In the Aeroplane Over The Sea.

Fogel is a Jewish multinstrumentalist who’s performed with Chanukah style rockers The LeeVees, Jdub kids band The Macaroons and the Zambonis, the world’s only hockey-absorbed rock band.

His current project, Golden Bloom, released album Fan the Flames (2009) last year.

Check out this sparse and beautiful cover: “King of Carrot Flowers.”
