You can put this at the top of my random-things-I-learned-today list. Legendary rapper/producer/DJ Q-Tip has come out to the media as a newbie Jewish Sabbath observer.

He told the New York Daily News:
"I'm going to enjoy Sabbath on Saturday, so on Friday at sunset I'm going to turn off my TV, my radio -- I'm not going to do anything. And then when the sun sets on Saturday night, I'm going to raise hell!"

Q-Tip is known mainly as part of posi East Coast hip-hip group A Tribe Called Quest but his recent discovery of Shabbat stems from his role in the upcoming film “Holy Rollers.” The film is based on events in the 1990s when Chasidim were recruited as drug mules.

Shabbat Shalom Q-Tip. Now I love you even more.
