Not only does the author have more religious freedom in America than she does in Israel, she has more guaranteed civil liberties overall. That’s because the US, unlike Israel, is a pluralist democracy, a state of all its citizens, with separation of church and state. If the US suddenly became a Christian state in the exact same manner that Israel is a Jewish one Israel’s supporters here would be protesting in the streets, and rightfully so. Ironic that they so fervently support in Israel what they would abhor here.
