Ok so, clearly I'm having an attack of holidayitus (the uncontrollable urge to talk about the holidays incessantly, watch Chanukah video after adorable Chanukah video and drink vegan peppermint-infused hot cocoa nightly).
Last week I brought you “Dreidel Playa," yesterday I swooned over “Kosher Face” and today? Today I bring Elizabeth & The Catapult’s super freaky cute song and video “Christmas with the Jews.” Okay so the song was techically recorded last year, never-you-mind. It is still an instant classic sure to bring grinning Chanukah cheer.
The Brooklyn trio, consisting of Elizabeth Ziman, Dan Molad, and Pete Lalis, formed in 2004 and released its Mike Mogus-produced album “Taller Children” in 2009 (Mogus of Bright Eyes and Monsters of Folk fame).
During an interview with LAist last year, Ziman said the group’s holiday song was simply about how “Jews can have fun on Christmas, too.”
The clip features Ziman singing to her bunny then prancing and dancing around holiday-crazy drug stores and malls. Since the video is on Vimeo, I can’t post it here, but I’ve provided this handy link and a few neato stills.
