What’s going on here, Taylor Swift?

TMZ asks "What the heil was Taylor Swift thinking?" - and no, that's not a typo. The 19-year-old blonde singer was photographed last weekend at Katy Perry's birthday party in West Hollywood (which was apparently a graffiti party, since everyone's wearing white and looks like crap) with her arm around a dude wearing a white polo shirt with a giant red swastika painted on it. Celebrity-blogosphere pandemonium ensues. Is this girl-next-door really a racist-next-door?

A representative for the country/pop darling - who's mostly known for crooning trite (yet oddly catchy) ballads like "Love Story" and "You Belong With Me," dating Joe Jonas and being famously interrupted by Kanye West at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards - put out the following statement: "Taylor took pictures with about 100 people that night...she doesn't know who this guy is and she didn't realize what was on his shirt."

Now Swastika Boy - aka AJ English - has also spoken out, apologizing to Swift for dragging her into the mess and claiming that the swastika started out as an X but got "perverted" as the night wore on.

This is a tough one - on the one hand, the party was probably pretty dark (I'm sure there's plenty of flash in that photo), but on the other, it's a giant red swastika on a white shirt. Still, I'm more inclined to think that this was an innocent/ignorant mistake on Taylor Swift's part - and an all-too-convenient publicity grab for Herr English.
