Comix Friday: Thumbs up for Crumb’s ‘Genesis’2:59 pm Friday, October 9, 2009by rachel leibold This week's Jewish Daily Forward has a rave review of R. Crumb's "The Book of Genesis," making me all the more excited for its release next week! It sounds fantastic! Bookforum also has a thumbs-up review. As a reminder, Crumb will be speaking at the JCCSF at 8 p.m. Oct. 31. Tickets are $30-$50 and seriously, they're going fast (there are only like 10 seats left or something), so if you haven't bought yours yet, do it now! ~~~~~~~~~~~
I feel like I've written about "How to Understand Israel" before, but I can't find the link. The book is based on Sarah's experience on a Birthright Israel trip, and Heeb magazine had a good interview with Sarah back in June 2008. I can't wait to read the finished book! The art looks wonderful. I'm also enjoying Sarah's journal comics. Love the one about Sarah Palin. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Lastly (for this week at least), Vanessa Davis has up a great new comic, "Stick in the Mud" (about a mother-daughter trip to a spa in Calistoga), up at Tablet Magazine (formerly Nextbook). She also did a really good comic last month, "Holy Rollin'," about the High Holy Days. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Comix Friday is published in the Art Scene blog every Friday, and focuses on Jewish comic artists and Jewish-themed comix. If you know of anything I should be blogging about in Comix Friday, let me know! Permalink Leave a comment Spread the Word E-mail a friendCommentsBe the first to comment! Leave a Comment
