Monotonix is back. That fantastic group of hair-covered Heebs, the ultimate Israeli rock and roll band to ever have lived, has a brand new album and has embarked on a brand new world tour. As you may or may not remember, I had the giddy pleasure of interviewing the thickly-accented rockers last year: Israeli rockers Monotonix prepare antics for S.F. show

After the article came out, I went to the show at the Hemlock and experienced (without hyperbole) the best show of my life. Lead singer Ami Shalev was every bit the showman I expected, and then some. He wiggled and danced, spun in circles and made quick, spastic motions — before diving head first through the sweaty throng of eager fans. Towards the end of night the crowd was literally carrying the drummer & full drum set over their heads, bursting out in to the main bar. Shocking the socks off some unassuming bar patrons.

That said, here's the gist:

Tuesday, Sept. 8
New Monotonix album out!
title: "Where Were You When It Happened?"
record label: Drag City

Thursday, Sept. 17
Monotonix return to San Francisco!
The Independent
628 Divisadero St.
