Sad news for Beastie Boys fans

While Beastie Boy Adam Yauch (MCA) has battled-rapped with the best of them, he's now in for the fiercest battle of his life - news broke yesterday that the hip hop Heeb is fighting a cancerous tumor in his salivary gland. Such sad news for Yauch and his family.

"The good news is that they did scans of my whole body and it's only localized in this one area and it's not in a place that affects my voice...So, that's nice. That's convenient," says Yauch in a video statement.

The Beastie Boys, who were set to perform at Outside Lands in San Francisco, have canceled all scheduled concerts and delayed their next album release.

Yauch was born a Brooklyn Jew in 1964 but has since began practicing Buddhism as his chosen religion. He joined Michael "Mike D" Diamond and Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz in 1981 as an early member of the punk-turned-hip hop act Beastie Boys.
