Scott Feldman facing Giants tonight10:09 am Friday, June 19, 2009by michael lazarus
Scott Feldman, the 26-year-old Jewish right-hander, will take the ball for the Texas Rangers as they face the Giants tonight at AT&T Park. Feldman is having by far the best season of his career, sporting a 5-1 record with 3.70 ERA, and is one of the big reasons the upshot Rangers sit atop of the AL West standings. The timing could not be better for Feldman, as the Giants, fresh off a three-game sweep at the hands of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, are playing some of their worst baseball of the season. Feldman is a local kid. He attended Burlingame High and then played for College of San Mateo, where he earned All-American Honors both years. Feldman will face another Bay Area native, albeit one with 15 more years of big league experience, in Randy Johnson. Feldman will look for offensive support from another Jew, All-Star second baseman Ian Kinsler. Kinsler is leading all second basemen with 17 HRs, and is second with 13 SBs and 47 RBIs. So if you're in need of some Friday night plans, come out to the ballpark, enjoy a Hebrew National kosher hot dog, and watch a couple of Jews excel at their craft. Game time is 7:15 p.m. Permalink Leave a comment Spread the Word E-mail a friend CommentsBe the first to comment! Leave a Comment
