Weekend fun stuff8:21 am Friday, April 3, 2009by emily savage The absolute best thing about living in San Francisco/The Bay Area? There are brilliantly fun ( and yes, often Jewish) events going on nearly every weekend. Sometimes, twice a weekend — such is the case this particular weekend. Case in point: Arlo Guthrie is performing Saturday at the JCCSF and Eugene Mirman will deliver devastatingly adorable comedy Sunday night at the Independent in S.F.
First of all, I should mention that the Arlo Guthrie show appears to be sold out, sorry folks. You most likely know Guthrie as the son of Americana legend Woodie Guthrie, or as the hippie folk artist behind the magnificent "Alice's Restaurant." He also, as the story goes, had a "hootenanny Bar Mitzvah" in 1960s New York with a host of up-and-coming folk heroes in attendance.
The Eugene Mirman show is still up for grabs, so I'd suggest you snag some tickets quick. The clever comedy stylings of the endearingly shlubby Jewish comedian wait for no man (or woman). He'll be performing alongside John Wesley Harding. The comedy show extravaganza, dubbed "Wes and Eugene's Cabinet of Wonders," is a vaudville-inspired variety show that will include jokes, music and surprise guests. the gist: The other gist: Permalink Leave a comment Spread the Word E-mail a friend
