Jewish film series on cable TV

Follow j. on   and

Turner Classics Movie station, or TCM, which is available to most cable subscribers, is having a Jewish film festival of sorts through September. “Projected Image: The Jewish Experience in Film” will air 19 Jewish-themed films over the course of the month, from 5 p.m. Tuesdays until approximately 4 a.m. the following day.

The films will be introduced by TCM host Robert Osborne and film scholar Eric Goldman.

The Tuesday, Sept. 9 films relate to the Holocaust and include “The Juggler,” a rarely screened 1953 film set in Israel, starring Kirk Douglas as a Holocaust survivor. The Sept. 16 films relate to Israel; Sept. 23 films address anti-Semitism and the Sept. 30 movies reflect “coming of age” themes, such as Chaim Potok’s  “The Chosen.” For a full listing, see http://www.tcm.com/projectedimage. — nate bloom
