Because of Israel’s war with Hamas, Jewish Family and Children’s Services of the East Bay has organized a free support group for people concerned about the safety of family and friends in Israel.

The group, titled “Joining Hands,” will meet three consecutive Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. starting Aug. 13 at the Berkeley offices of JFCS.

JFCS staff psychotherapist Rikki Sudikoff will be the facilitator. She says the group setting allows participants to “share with others their concerns. People are the experts of their own experience, and they lend that expertise to others by sharing. People learn from each other how to cope better.”

Participants may attend one, two or all three sessions, which will take place at JFCS/East Bay, 2484 Shattuck Ave., Suite 210, Berkeley. Registration is encouraged, but drop-ins are welcome. For more information or to register, call Sudikoff at (510) 704-7480, ext. 761 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). — dan pine
