Reform synagogues join for Pride Parade

Follow j. on   and

For the first time in the 44-year history of the San Francisco Pride Parade, all Reform synagogues in the Greater Bay Area will be marching together under one banner.

This year’s parade is scheduled to get underway at 10:30 a.m. on June 29.

Over the years, many local Reform congregations have participated, but this will mark the first time all 25 have banded together.

“Our goals are twofold,” said Rabbi Andrea Berlin, who works with congregations in the Union of Reform Judaism’s Western region. “To show our support of the LGBT community, and to allow members of our own Jewish community to get better acquainted.”

Signing up to march with the Reform contingent is free, but advance registration is required at http://www.urj.org/west/SFpride.
