Young adults to gather for Israel discussion

New Israel Fund’s “Love, Hate & the Jewish State 3.0” is scheduled for next week at a performance gallery in San Francisco’s Mission District. Admission is free and open to people 21 and older.

Officials expect the event to draw a diverse crowd of more than 100 young Jewish adults for conversation about Israel and social justice. The content is participant-driven, with people suggesting topics they’d like to discuss. Organizers will select the most popular topics and provide facilitators for small-group discussions.

Orlee Rabin, director of NIF’s New Generations program in the Bay Area, says the event is NIF’s largest annual young adult gathering. “Israel is often a difficult topic to discuss, and we feel that this forum is attractive and integral to the young adult community’s connection to Israel,” she adds.

NIF materials note that “diverse opinions are welcome” and the gathering will “foster community without shying away from differences.”

The event is scheduled for 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, May 28 at Public Works, 161 Erie St., San Francisco. Space is limited. Co-sponsors include the S.F.-based Jewish Community Relations Council, Jewish LearningWorks, The Kitchen and Moishe House San Francisco.
