Soul-lifting music jam. “Shalom by the Bay,” an evening of uplifting and high-energy secular and Jewish music, will feature Danny Carnahan of “Wake the Dead,” a jam band that creates Celtic-style interpretations of Grateful Dead songs, along with other local musicians to help raise money for the Coastside Jewish Community. Appetizers and beverages will be served. 7 p.m. Sunday, May 18 at Rudramandir Center 830 Bancroft Way, Berkeley. $36-$108; $10 for ages 3-12; free for 2 and younger. http://www.coastsidejewishcommunity.org
