Three Bay Area residents are among the 17 rabbis from across the country who have been selected to travel to Kenya as part of American Jewish World Service’s sixth Global Justice Fellowship cohort.

The local rabbis selected for the program are Camille Angel of Congregation Sha’ar Zahav in San Francisco, Dennis Eisner of Peninsula Temple Beth El in San Mateo and Stacy Friedman of Congrega-tion Rodef Sholom in San Rafael.

The yearlong training program in human rights activism will include a one-week trip to Kenya in August. There, the fellows will learn about grassroots organizing tactics being used to fight discrimination and sexual and gender-based violence against women, girls and LGBT people.

AJWS is an international Jewish human rights and development organization focused on ending poverty and realizing human rights in the developing world.
