A new interfaith coalition looking to raise awareness about poverty in Contra Costa County is hosting a community conversation at Temple Isaiah in Lafayette on Feb. 23.

“Voices on Poverty” is the interfaith group’s first public event.

The two-hour afternoon program will include speakers who are living in poverty, and speakers who are working to eradicate it. Facilitated conversations will look at local data on poverty and what faith traditions can teach about responding to it.

The event, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the synagogue’s social hall, will also honor volunteers for Winter Nights Shelter, a rotating shelter for homeless families offered by faith communities in the county.

Temple Isaiah is located at 945 Risa Road, Lafayette. The event is free; RSVP by calling (925) 283-8575.
