“Unknown Land,” a film in which a sailing boat bearing an Israeli flag sinks and a search for survivors begins, will screen at the Petaluma International Film Festival.
In the 2012 Moroccan film, a castaway is washed ashore on the tranquil island of Socotra, far from the turmoil that is taking place at the time in not-so-distant Yemen.
“Unknown Land” screens at 3:45 p.m. Oct. 11, followed by “Hint,” a 19-minute Israeli film about a woman who goes dancing every week at the local community center.
The festival features more than 35 films and runs Oct. 11-13 at Boulevard Cinemas, 200 C St., Petaluma.
