MidBurn, an Israeli group that has been putting on Burning Man–esque events on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea for two years, will be making its first appearance in the Nevada desert this year to experience the real thing.

One of 115 official Burning Man regional groups, MidBurn has held several events in Israel, such as one at a remote beach south of Haifa that drew more than 1,400 people.

At Burning Man, the “MidBurners” will present a 20-foot, illuminated hamsa hand. During the day, the “Hand of Inspiration” will provide shade, organizers claim, and at night, it will glow and change colors as people beat on nearby drums, each with a light inside. Made of wood, the piece will be burned near the festival’s conclusion on Sept. 2.

Beyond the presence of MidBurn, there will be other Jewish-themed venues at Burning Man, including the Sukkat Shalom camp, the Burning Manischewitz camp and a Jewish mother booth.
