American Jewish World Service has announced a conversation and social justice series called “Bites of Jewish Justice: Lunchtime Learning.”
Starting on Thursday, April 25 and running one Thursday per month through October, the six sessions will be led by rabbis who have experience traveling in the developing world. Each rabbi will lead the group in an exploration of Jewish teachings on justice and human rights issues.
The series begins next week with Rabbi Sydney Mintz of Congregation Emanu-El in San Francisco talking about the mitzvah of caring for strangers. Other rabbis in the lineup are Menachem Creditor (Netivot Shalom, Berkeley), Daniel Isaacson (S.F.-based Jewish Family and Children’s Services); Susan Leider (Kol Shofar, Tiburon); Laurie Matzkin (Kol Emeth, Palo Alto); and Corey Helfand (Peninsula Sinai Congregation, Foster City).
