Other politicos joining the festivities included state Sen. Mark Leno; state Assembly members Marc Levine and Paul Fong; San Francisco Supervisors Malia Cohen, Eric Mar and Scott Wiener; and Israel Consul General to the Pacific Northwest Andy David. The event raised more than $1 million to support services for the community. Richard Hart and Dan McClosky of Temple Sinai in Oakland, organizers of the Holiday Dinner Drive in December, report that 20 participating congregations raised a record $105,000 for local food banks. Since the program’s inception in 2000, $850,000 has been raised. Placing second were Zachary Berger in the earth/space division and Joseph Blinder in the biological division. David Lipman placed first in physical science and also received an award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
