I understand that this is just a small blurb (“Canadian, Israeli navies team up for joint exercise,” March 1), but it says a lot. I am deeply impressed that your magazine published an article on Canadian-Israeli naval practice — a story that the Canadian Broadcast Corporation and Toronto Globe and Mail overlooked, to some extent, yet which the j. published.
Though not necessarily of the utmost importance, I support this type of journalism, which is a welcome reminder that Israel has not lost all her allies and is still, on some level, backed by the global community in an age where those who support Israel are in the minority.
However, this did leave a biting question: Why Canada? I understand that Canada, like Israel, is a global military middle power, but Canada is thousands of miles away. I sincerely wish your article had addressed that too, but all in all, thank you for enlightening the Bay Area Jewish community about Israeli-Canadian military cooperation.
