Free workshop to focus on volunteer work

The Jewish Coalition for Literacy will host “Volunteering Across Differences,” a free, half-day conference on volunteer work, on Thursday, Feb. 7 at the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco. The conference, featuring keynote speaker Roberto Almazan, will run from 1:45 to 5:30 p.m.

Almazan, a filmmaker and lecturer, will speak on his experiences helping nonprofits and other groups develop the skills to work effectively and respectfully in multicultural communities. Conference attendees can choose between two literacy workshops: “So … What About Phonics?” and “Creating Enthusiastic Readers.” Attendees are also welcome to visit the museum’s Ezra Jack Keats exhibit for free.
