“Paths of Torah,” a commentary written by members of Congregation Netivot Shalom in Berkeley, was a finalist for a national award from the Jewish Book Council. The awards were announced Jan. 15.

“Paths of Torah” was one of two finalists in Contemporary Jewish Life and Practice, a category won by “Davening: A Guide to Meaningful Jewish Prayer,” by Rabbi Zalman M. Schachter-Shalomi with Joel Segel.

Netivot Shalom members are encouraged to share divrei Torah (words of Torah) on the weekly Torah readings. Published last winter, “Paths of Torah” is a record of those commentaries.
